| | Posted: | | | | Absolutely. I own probably about 100 ex-rentals. They have a different UPC to the retail versions and often have different language/subtitle options. I've also noticed (in the UK at least) they often less extras or a different version of the movie (theatrical cut only etc).
I don't see how including them could make things difficult especially as (again, the UK at least) info is easy to find via www.dvd-subtitles.com
I can see how not including them could cause problems though.
(I'm only talking about ones I have bought though, not on es I have rented which I don't catalogue in any way) | | | | Last edited: by samuelrichardscott |

| | Posted: | | | | Yeah, they can go in. Just don't include "Rental", "Rental Copy", "Rental Version" or something like that as part of the "Title" field - put in the "Edition" field instead. I've found this to be a pretty common mistake... |

I can't think of a single reason NOT to add them, especially if they have different UPC's. You'd be surprised how many ex-rentals are for sale in the used market. |

| | Posted: | | | | Yes, in my opinion they should be included. Having bought some rental versions myself and contributed to some of them, I see no problem there. The rules do not prohibit it and almost all rental DVDs end up in the bargain bin when they don't make enough money. By the way, the German Profiler community had quite an argument some years ago whether or not the rental versions should be flaged as such even if it is not stated so on the front cover (often it is written in small print on the back side). The majority was in favor of doing so. I would even understand if someone added a DVD he has rented just because he wants to keep track of the movies he watched. It would be cheating if you count them to your DVD count but hey...  | | |

Of course I own them once I purchase them (never said I was renting) - but simply because this DVD was once (as in past-tense) rental-only doesn't mean it can't be in the DVDP database. Poor rentals.
