I know the FIFA president already said they are not banning the vuvuzelas but I am curious and will ask this anyways. Do you think the president should have banned them or put no if you are satisfied they kept them. They are killing the games. It sounds like a Giant Hornet swarm or any bee swarm for the entire game straight for every game.

Personally I don't like them,, as you said sounds like a swarm on it's way. But then again a lot of sporting events have their different quirks so why not let them stay, but the TV companies (like the BBC have done here in the UK) should find a way to filter out the noise for those that don't wish to hear it.

They don't ban drummers or trumpets in other football matches, so let them keep them.

While I find them really annoying, its part of the South African football culture.

There are worse things in football. You watch some european games, and they let flares and fireworks off, which is clearly rather dangerous. Those never seem to be banned.

Whether I like them or not personally is not relevant. Let the "12th Man" do what he does. I invite anty of you to come over here I have a few football stadiums to take you to, some of there are guaranteed  to require earplugs. The game would be very boring if the fans had to sit on their hands and be quiet while watching the match, oh horrors. Shhhhhh, don't make any noise now, he's taking a shot, even the sports anouncers have to whisper like they do in golf....now there's an exciting game.

They are supposed to be banned from English grounds but when the Champions League and Europa League games come around the euro supporters always seem to be able to sneak them into our grounds and let them off without any reprisals.

But overall NO NOISE = NO Spectator precipitation = BORING

I shout and cheer along with the rest of them when I go to a game

I don't hear a big difference to the normal German football games.

This is also very popular in stadions (the horn, not the bobby car):

I would hope there's no spectator "precipitation"!   ( I think what you meant was participation).
My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT.
FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that.
Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it!

It isn't cheering for your team who is annoying, it's to make an annoying noise during a complete game who is...

I don't watch the game, but everytime I watch the sport news I hear that noise and I have to turn the channel. This sound isn't just annoying, but very dangerous for the hearing.

Anyway it's the last time it will happen on the African continent, those guys must be proud of them to kill the chances for any other African country to get an important sport even in the future.

Yeah wonderful thing asking corrupt poverty stricken nations to host such events. They have such great infrastructure they can afford to waste time building stadiums that won't get filled after the games have ended.

They should be banned once the South Africa team is eliminated. And after today's loss, that just might be the first round. Please, oh pretty please.

read an article where it said the vuvuzelas make a bee swarm sound from the TV but if you are there in person the sound is very damaging for your ears. the decibels are roughly 144 which equal to a passenger jet. i think they are referring to normal jets not jumbo because jumbo jets are a lot more then 144. they should just remove them for everyone's health.

This is what a doctor had said here also yesterday... One of the many reasons why this had nothing to do in a stadium (at least not in the way they use them), at least stadium shouting and normal encouraging noise don't risk to make you deaf...

Whilst I do find them irritating in the extreme outside of the arena, and believe me they are all over my neighbourhood, day and night, they are a major part of our Soccer culture. They are at each and every local match be that match for local or international sides. They create a vibe that engenders the spirit of the game in South Africa. The louder they are, the happier the fans are!

Happy fans, will eventually be, deaf fans because these things...especially in the numbers being used in stadiums...cause severe hearing damage.  My first experience with these was nine years ago, when my daughters little leage cheer team was giving them away as 'Spirit Horns'.  While not as bad as air horns, one to one, they are still very loud.  Needless to say, I wear earplugs when I go to her college games.

On the bright side, since these are made of plastic, they can be used as hearing aids in five years.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.
