| Posted: | | | | It seems like it's mostly credited as "The Vitaphone Corporation". Since the rules explicitly say not to abbreviate, I would use that full name for the occasional abbreviated "Corp." credit as well. | | | Last edited: by T!M |

If you can give me the real name, I can give you a better answer. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. After further research, I still agree with T!M. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. I guess the two companies ( Warners and Vitaphone ) came together with the finances for production of these films., . | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. ("Corporation") is a company suffix and should be omitted. | | | Markku |

The Vitaphone Corporation was a sound film company founded in 1925. Corporation is the ending suffix of this company's name and informs people what kind of company it was. When registering a company, you will be coming up with a name that combines the title of your company with an ending suffix. It is not possible to register a company without a suffix. Suffixes available for use by corporations are (for example): Inc., Inc, Incorporated, Corp., Corp, Corporation, Co., Co, Ltd., Ltd and Limited. Limited Liability Company is a different type of entity than a corporation and suffixes available for it are (for example): Limited Liability Company, LLC and L.L.C. The rules say do not abbreviate Studio or Media Company names. This does of course not mean that you should include also the company suffix of the company's name, because the next rule tells us to omit it. All company names have a suffix but the rules explicitly say not to include it. To me it is obvious that Corporation is a company suffix of a company's name and we should not include it. IMO this can't be open to interpretations, but perhaps this is just because I'm a Company Lawyer . | | | Markku |

My wife's company was registered without a suffix. No Inc., no Corp., no LLC, no LTD., no nothing. That would make the credited name 'The Vitaphone' and, I am sorry, but that just doesn't make any sense. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | I think of a suffix in this case as something that comes after the company name and a comma: Warner Bros. Pictures, Inc. has a suffix; The Vitaphone Corporation does not. IMO. | | | ...James

I'm working on a Finnish company by the name of Itella Oyj (in Finnish), Itella Abp (in Swedish) and Itella Corporation (in English). Oyj, Abp and Corporation are all company suffixes which tell you what kind of company Itella is. I'll give you a more familiar example: a Production Company named Columbia Pictures Corporation. If Corporation is not a company suffix, it should be included as a part of the company name to DVDP database, shouldn't it? Why would we treat Columbia Pictures Corporation different from The Vitaphone Corporation? | | | Markku |
