| Posted: | | | | We will soon add a new rating to the United States, Canada, and Canada (Quebec) localities. The rating is "Unrated" and will be set to an age of 17.
The rating will apply to titles which have "Unrated" on the cover, such as "Unrated Director's Cut" or similar.
It will not apply to titles which are not rated and have never received a rating, such as many direct-to-tv animated titles (Dora, etc). These will remain "NR".
We need to decide whether the new "Unrated" rating will also apply to titles marked "Not Rated" or "NR", and not marked "Unrated", but which previously received a theatrical rating.
Note: Option 1 will result in mixed-rated releases (NR and R for instance) such as "Director's Cut", which are not marked "Unrated" to be rated 'R'. Option 2 will rate these as "Unrated". | | | Invelos Software, Inc. Representative | | | Last edited: by Ken Cole |

| Posted: | | | | Really impress to see the other thread locked when no solution was find and that it was not even the question asked. So I will not answer to the poll since it's obviously a directed one... The solution is simple and don't need the creation of a false imaginative rating at all... |

I don't quite understand what is meant by the above quoted paragraph, and I'd like a clarification before I vote. What kind of titles are we talking about? Some examples would be great. edited to add: Maybe I was tired or something... obviously it refers to new cuts of movies that were never resubmitted for a new rating. | | | Tags, tags, bo bags, banana fana fo fags, mi my mo mags, TAGS! | Posted: | | | | There's a potential problem here: Quote: Also apply to "NR" titles which previously received a theatrical rating This word leaves a lot up in the air. For instance, the Workprint version of Blade Runner came before any of the rated versions. If IMDB is any indication, the European was exhibited earlier than the US version as well. There's no telling which was put together first. This isn't limited to Blade Runner, either. The Unrated version of Team America: World Police was shown to the MPAA before the version that was released. The filmmakers were planning on doing the R version all along. This was a ruse to cut one very raunchy scene so they could get away with everything else. I'm not sure when they actually put this together, though. "Previously" is hard to determine in many cases. If we drop "previously," it leaves the possibility of pre-MPAA movies that got re-released being unrated if a studio logo got changed or something. |

One very important thing I noted in this was "Parental Control" that alone makes it a local issue, Parental Control not User Control. I know people here in DC who would not show something like In Harm's Way, because it's a war film and they don't approve of war. I know other's who will not show a Disney fil;m because they are pure fantasy...go figure. I don't agre with either one of those but, hey it's their life. This is kind of a similar thing Parental Control and kudos to those users for exercising some control over what their children watch. A short term Rule modification is only going to cause more trouble and a long term solution is very easy as AESP noted, though I think I would make a more versatile block, especially given that it should be a local issue, so allow for Age or a more detailed description ala MPAA if a user desires, whatever works best for him/her. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! | Posted: | | | | I'm too late to contribute to the other thread. But it seems like this whole mess could have been avoided if we had the ability to create separate profiles for multiple films on one side of a disc. Then you could profile the rated and unrated versions separately giving each the appropriate rating without all the confusion. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. | Posted: | | | | This question is kind of a toss up with me, I kind of like the idea of "Also apply to "NR" titles which previously received a theatrical rating" but at the same time I can see the complications that could come with that decision. At this point I am just thrilled we are getting the Unrated added! | | | Pete |

Not really Mark... since they still wouldn't filter in the parental filter where they are supposed to. That is what most of us wanted to happen. I will stop myself here since that discussion has been closed. | | | Pete |

We are on the same page on this I don't see the need to create a monster for something that can be done as a personalize option. The solution that Ken had choosen will create more trouble than anything else (just wait for it). |

| Posted: | | | | Went with "Apply only where "Unrated" or similar is on the cover". IMO, since it is more common than not that the Not Rated goes to the film that has never been rated in the Home Video field, it should be that way here, too. Edit: By all means though, don't make a request for it. I'd imagine that it's less likely to be considered for adding though. | | | Last edited: by Ardos |

Of course I won't, The way to do the thing here is to create more problem to correct something simple. As long as this bad idea isn't force on me I can live with it... |
