No matter the Genre, no matter if it was theatrically released or a TV Movie. Just as long as the movie was made in the '80sWhen doing these Marathons I like to add a cartoon from the same decade between the movies. Unfortunately in this case I have a load of movies from the '80s... but only a few sets of cartoons from the '80s! So I am hoping to fix that problem within my next few DVD orders. IF YOU HAVE A FAVORITE CARTOON FROM THE '80S I AM TAKING RECOMMENDATIONS! But as I said... I do have a few sets here (or coming soon) that I will be able to use...But as I said... I thought I would start this marathon out with Superman III. I know a lot of people that don't like this movie what with the way they went with comedy for the movie. But I must say... I kind of enjoyed that for a change. Don't get me wrong... I enjoyed the first two more... but I thought it made for a nice change. And I like Richard Pryor... so that helped me too. And I don't think I would want to see another comedic look at Superman. I also enjoyed Anette O'Toole as Lana Lang in this movie. She of course went on to play Martha Kent in the TV Series Smallville. I also thought the whole Superman vs. Clark Kent fight was cool. My Rating: 3.5/5 | | | | Pete |

| | Posted: | | | | Toon Time! Super Friends: The Legendary Super Powers Show is an American animated television series about a team of superheroes which ran from 1984 to 1985 on ABC. It was produced by Hanna-Barbera and is based on the Justice League and associated comic book characters published by DC Comics. The Bride of Darkseid (Part 1)Season 1 - Episode 1Firestorm makes his debut as a superhero and is invited to join the Super Friends. Darkseid pursues Wonder Woman to be his and is able to capture her when Firestorm accidentally shuts off the Hall of Justice's force field. My Thoughts:This was one of my favorite shows when I was young... all the variations of the Super Friends... but this one in particular as I always liked the character of Firestorm. And I still do... even though I am not quite sure why... because they really did make him too powerful. It was like he was the answer to most any problem they had. But even with that... he was always a favorite character of mine. And this pilot episode introduces him showing us what he can do (go through solid objects... change molecular structure of inanimate objects) and how he got his powers. All these years later I still enjoy this show a lot. Video: Widescreen 1.85:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo Subtitles: N/A Stars:Michele Michaels Robin Stille Michael Villella Debra Deliso Andree Honore Gina Mari Plot:When Trish (Michele Michaels) decides to invite her high school girl's basketball teammates over for a slumber party, she makes three big mistakes: NUMBER 1: She snubs the pretty new girl next door. NUMBER 2: She forgets about teenage pranksters Jeff and Neil. NUMBER 3: Her biggest mistake: She doesn't know about an escaped mental patient (Michael Villella) who will soon be dropping in on the party... with his portable drill! Written, directed by women, including famed feminist writer Rita Mae Brown, Slumber Party Massacre will scare you right down to the core. Extras:Scene Access Feature Trailers Bonus Trailers Production Notes My Thoughts: This is a movie I haven't seen in years. So many years in fact that I couldn't remember too much about it at all. I do however remember seeing this movie as a teenager. I was lucky that my mother was cool enough that she didn't worry much about what I was watching. If I came home with a bag full of movies from the video rentals... she would ask me what I got. And if I said some horror... she would say " Yuck... you are on your own with those... get me any Karate or War movies?" The movie is much shorter then I was expecting it to be... running at only an hour and 16 minutes. It has some decent killings in this one... and there is a nice amount of T&A for your viewing pleasure. Along with the names mentioned above there is a brief early appearance by Brinke Stevens. Over all I would say it is a good horror movie. I did enjoy it... I guess I would say it is good for what it is... as long as you don't go into it expecting a masterpiece I think you should enjoy it. But it could have been better. Maybe flesh out the story some more. Possibly give the movie a little more length. But of course at the same time that could possibly make the movie worse as well. And this first one always been my favorite in the franchise. Matter of fact... I would even say it is one of my favorite horror movies of all time! This has a couple actors in it that I am very familiar with. Of course there is a young Johnny Depp. And then there is Heather Langenkamp... who I remember well as one of the children on the sitcom Just the Ten of Us. While still sarcastic... in this one Freddy Krueger is played a bit more straight... as they didn't add as much comedy to the character as the later ones did. Though I do like the later ones as well. Dungeons and DragonsThe general premise of the show is that a group of children are pulled into the "Realm of Dungeons & Dragons" by taking a magical dark ride trip on an amusement park roller coaster. Invariably, the children try to return home, but often take detours to help people, or find that their fates are intertwined with the fate of others.The Night of No TomorrowSeason 1 - Episode 1The group finds Merlin, looking for a magic spell to get home Presto casts a spell only to release a horde of dragons attacking the nearby village. My Thoughts:This is a cartoon I used to watch back when I was a teen. I bought the DVD set for pure nostalgic reasons alone. When I saw the set so cheap I just couldn't help myself. The show is not as good as I remember it.. but it is entertaining enough and gives enough nostalgic value that it is worth the $9.86 I paid for the set. I never realized it when I was a kid... but it is now so obvious that the actor supplying the voice for Eric is none other then Donny Most (Ralph Mouth on Happy Days). | | | | Pete |

And if his twisted soul takes possession of the boy's body, Freddy will return from the dead to wreak bloody murder and mayhem upon the entire town. When A Nightmare on Elm Street made a killing, horror fans shrieked for more. Soon the diabolic Freddy was resurrected with a vengeance - along with some of the most terrifying special effects ever to splatter the screen. I can't even place my finger on what it is that I don't care for... just something about this one that didn't sit well with me. Freddy Krueger is still played pretty straight in this one. The Wrath of BrainiacSeason 1 - Episode 3Brainiac develops android duplicates of Superman and Wonder Woman in an attempt to seek revenge on the Superfriends. My Thoughts:Not bad episode. Darkseid continues his obsession with Wonder Woman. If I remember correctly this goes on for this entire incarnation of The Super Friends. At least in this one Firestorm wasn't the center of attention like he was the last 2 episodes. | | | | Pete |

So I am running a bit low on cartoon episodes to go along with it! My all time favourite cartoon series was " The Mysterious Cities of Gold" From the UK Overview - Quote:
It is the 16th century. From all over Europe great ships sale west to conquer the New World, the Americas. These men eager to seek their fortune, to find new adventures in new lands. They long to cross uncharted seas and discover unknown countries. To find secret gold on a mountain trail high in the Andes. Their only dream is that their quest will lead them to their missing fathers, and they hope that the strange medallions they both wear may hold the key to the cities' location. The Super Friends (now called the Super Powers Team) were once again headquartered at the Hall of Justice (which had been redesigned for this series to appear more dome-like and seemingly, larger) in Metropolis, and battled such familiar foes as Darkseid, Lex Luthor, and Scarecrow.Except where noted as a short, each episode was 30 minutes long. The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians lasted only one season on ABC, marking the end of Hanna-Barbera's 12-year run of the Super Friends.The Seeds of DoomSeason 1 - Episode 1After single-handedly capturing Superman's perennial nemesis Lex Luthor, the bionic Cyborg is invited to join the Super Powers Team—but surprisingly turns down the offer. But it will take the intervention of Darkseid and his Parademons, to say nothing of some horrific-looking sea pods, to make Cyborg change his mind.My Thoughts:This latest version of Super Friends sees the addition of Cyborg. I liked how they handled him joining the team. He wasn't thrilled with the idea like Firestorm was. He wanted to live a normal life. In his case he joins out of necessity instead of desire. I also liked how he and firestorm works together. They compliment each other very well. Also got to see some old favorites that has not been in many of the other series... like Aquaman and Hawkman. I really enjoyed the scene when he first got it... finding out just how fast it went. I believe Stephen King's take on the werewolf legend is just right on the spot. And I liked who the werewolf turned out to be. While it is not what I would call a gory movie... there is a scene or two that shows it's fair share of blood. There was nothing about this movie that was not just plain enjoyable. It is definitely one of my favorite werewolf movies. Unfortunately this is just a bare bones DVD... no extras what so ever. I would have liked to at the very least seen the Theatrical Trailer on the disc. I imagine there will be many people that does not agree with the below rating... but what can I say... My Rating: 4.5/5 Movie Central HD ran this title in High def this past week & as well as in 2.35 (rather than 1.78) and I have to say haven't seen this title since it's initial P&S release on VHS.. It was great viewing this again, in the way King would have wanted us to see it.. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.
