I've just seen a contribution of "Dances with Wolves"

There are some Indian actors in it. How do we parse them?

Just a few example how they're parsed actually in the profile:

Floyd/Red Crow/Westerman
Nathan/Lee Chasing His/Horse
Jason/R. Lone/Hill
Percy/White/Plum
Clayton/Big/Eagle
Ryan/White/Bull
Maretta/Big/Crow
Redwing/Ted/Nez
Richard/Leader/Charge

On some it seems that something is wrong. I would say that for example Big Eagle would belong together, so it would be Clayton//Big Eagle.
Or "Chasing His Horse".
What would it need to correct/change this names.
For some it could be possible to bring up documentation. For example:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nathan_Lee_Chasing_His_Horse

But what about the others. Do we always need the full documentation in all cases?

I'm interested in your opinions.

None I am aware of. I can't recall this being brought up before (I certainly could have missed it though). Good luck on this!

I would consider them to be more like stage names but I'm sure that would be highly offensive to any Native Americans (AKA Indians) out there. If I ever saw a really good argument fo a single name field I would say it's right here.

Sorry I'm not more help (and by more I mean any  ) but I don't have a clue on this one.

Like stage names I wouldn't see that, because in the wikipedia link, the parents of Nathan Lee Chasing His Horse are Chief Joseph Chasing Horse and Winifred Chasing Horse. So it looks like they now use it like normal surnames. (forced or voluntarily)

I would agree with putting them all into the first name field or at the very least put the Native American sounding parts (ie Big Eagle) into one field.

But which field Forget, cases can be mnade. BUT more to the point let's not forget that ken recently made parsing irrelevant to the CLT. So who are we parsing for now, it seems to me that it is almost purely a local issue now.

I'll agree that while it is not the most official source, it does seem like a perfectly sensible list.

Unless we have someone on the forum who is an expert on American Indians and can tell us otherwise...

Jep, but as we're contributiong it's not just local and we (as good as possible) find a way that most of the users can agree (and matches the rules).

Btw, we've got fields for first, middle and last name, so a proper use still makes sense.

But if the CLT doesn't use the fields, it's an improvment of course. Did Ken post this somewhere? Can you remember the thread?

As far as I was aware it's always been like that (at least in my time here). When entering a name to search into the CLT we only have the one name field to enter so using parsing wouldn't make sense as it wouldn't know if we wanted to search for Helena //Bonham Carter or Helena/Bonham/Carter.

Agree, that this is not perfect, but it's not the worst source. Because I think they could have better sources than us.
If there would be an American site which has it his way listed would also be good. Or a site for Native American actors made by Native Americans. So if someone has something better, feel free to post.
