I've corrected the link in your post and you might want to correct the title of this thread. If something is slated then it implies that they are of poor quality. So when I followed the link I looked to see the list of Blu Rays which should be avoided.

Happily, the link isn't that at all.

I am pleased to see Deep Blue Sea will be available. One of my fav films

Unless my knowledge of the English language is a lot worse than I thought, I believe you are wrong, as the word "slated" was used in the correctly by FilmAlba.  Perhaps you we're thinking of the word "slighted"?

Slated can be used in both ways, it depends on context and I think FilmAlba used it correctly.

Oh, and in for my billionth copy of The Goonies, my favourite film of ALL TIME.

and maybe Deep Blue Sea but I can see that being cheap relatively quickly. As for Ben-Hur, I still need to watch the 4 disc DVD I've had for ages.

Arnold Schwarzenegger's new restaurant has been slated by a top food critic...

Apparently it can mean both.

Also The Goonies has been available in the UK for over a year, and it's region free.

Nice to see Ben-Hur slated though.

"slated" is about the same as "scheduled" in this context.

I'm not sure what you could have meant, pauls42.

I agree. Actually, now it says dated, it makes it seems like what pauls42 was referring to as "poor quality". But w/e, nice to see some of these announcements.

Exactly my thought too. If slated has a different connotation in the U.K. than here, the single wod I can think of would be "scheduled". But like you say, whatever.

Also i doubt there going to do a new master any time soon for The Goonies without using DNR and that's rather risky as many HD lovers know.

It will be same transfer as the British isles release with more extras.

I can confirm that 'slated', in the UK at least, means something is regarded as terrible.

The newspapers here regularly use this word to describe films that have been 'slated' or given terrible reviews.

what I meant was slated - which in the context of film reviews means given a poor rating.

I had no idea of this funny American use of the word..

Perhaps you need to look at a map then where you will see that scotland is part of the UK.

And since you are from the UK, I'd thought you were refering to the UK usage rather than the American usage. I stand corrected that there are two difefrent interpreations of the word.

But somehow I don't think any film company will put the 'slated' on any of their own film posters which are going up in the UK..
