I was more posting this as sort of giving an idea as to when these films will be available in the states. I always buy American when it comes to Blu-ray. Don't you mean if they don't? I was more posting this as sort of giving an idea as to when these films will be available in the states.
I always buy American when it comes to Blu-ray. Except some stuff from ITV DVD and i have a few earlier releases here which where in slim cases. Kino is a smart company that is not going to bite the hand that feeds it. Their purchasing base has always been people who know that SD is just fine for films of that time period. I guarantee you, they'll release it on SD. |

The Kino disc of The General does look gorgeous, though. I hope that if Kinowelt releases the Chaplin films on Blu-ray that they're the original theatrical cuts and not Chaplin's recut versions from his dotage (the "Daddy" cuts). | | | | "This movie has warped my fragile little mind." |

There the German distributor for Kino that's why posted this as it gives indication when they bring these to the states. I imagine in a box set more than anything else as they can maximum profit for all the films then bring them out individually once the market has grown a bit more. |

Well if i remember correctly the HD restorations of those Chaplin films where completed in the summer of 09. I think Kino have rights on the theatrical versions till march so don't know if by theatrical that means the Daddy Cuts or they have the right to distribute the originals. The best thing i think could happen would be to have all the versions of each film released in one premium boxset. That way the Chaplin family make a nice tidy sum and it satisfies fan demand. But given if it's true there rights run out in march ether this will be limited release or they will renew them.
