Should this be Robin / Wright / Penn or Robin // Wright Penn?

Since she was Robin Gayle Wright, and there is no evidence that she replaced Gayle with Wright, I would go with 'Robin/ /Wright Penn'.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

That's a GUESS, martian, not based on anysort of documentation. Without documentation supporting it...1/2/3. I have NEVER seen her name listed as Robin Wright-Penn, also Gayle has been removed. IF documentation can be found to support 1//23 I'll buy it but without documentation and just a GUESS....NO WAY. She is also not an actress from UK, she was born in Dallas, Tx.

There seems to be disagreement whether her middle name was Gayle or Virginia. So far I have found ONE reference in a biography at Starpulse to Wright Penn. Looking for more. As I have said I don't guess.

NNDB has her listed under "P"
but the BFI has her as WRIGHT PENN, Robin

It appears she is getting divorced so may revert back to Robin Wright, in the article she is called "Wright Penn"

I have also found conflicting interview typre material, one in which she is refferred to as Wright penn and three which refer to Penn. I would not deviate from 1/2/3. Particularly as moving forward Robin Wright (her name today) will ultimately win the battle of the CLT.

What does that have to do with anything? It's just as much troubel to change Robin/Wright/Penn to Robin//Wright as it is to change Robin//Wright Penn to Robin//Wright.

IMDB have Wright-Penn as an alternate name.
Yahoo have her mentioned in several stories as Wright-Penn.
I also found several mentions on gossip sites saying she will be removing the Penn part of her surname.

None of these are good enough for documentation IMO, but the BFI link from ninehours sure as hell is!

After some major digging around (I have even found a reference to her birth name name being Robin Virginia Gayle Wright), this is appears to be all over the map with nothing of any consistency; probably caused by her divorce of Sean Penn. I have found Wright Penn, Ms. Wright in some in interviews in the years during her marriage, Penn, I found one Wright-Penn reference. She does not seem to have a website of her own. I would not deviate from 1/2/3, there is no consistency in the data. A /1//23 listing, while certainly possible can be verified with any consistency and with her divorce and return to her maiden name, i doubt there will be.

Why is BFI a relevant source for an Ammerican actress, Sam Are they operating based on knowledge or simply based on UK culture...I can't answer that, so i don't think they are a credible source in this case.

I just can't find any sort of consistency.

Ace:

Your argument is based on changing data, that has nothing to do with accuracy of same. This one is simply a mess. Not one that there is enough data to make a change from 1/2/3.

That is only one, Sam. We had a similar situation with HBC vs HB=C, I was able to locate three "consecutive films in which she was listed as HB-C. HBC and HB-C, now I seriously doubt that she would ping pong her name so HB-C is the more likely correct parsing, the same cannot be said here...yet.

The data is just too messy, I would love to be able find something like I did for HB-C, but not likely. I would NOT change it and I will not accept any sort of change to my local in this regard, because there is not sufficient supporting documentation to support any given answer....beyond default.

I downloaded their divorce papers btw. Not helpful at all as it's not doen in surname, first name format

btw, if you do a google search there is a hell of a lot of sites saying she is dropping the Penn part of her surname, though again, not exactly worthy sites for info IMO.

Great idea....bummer.

Your second part would go more to her "correct" name as opposed to Most Commonly Credited, though tjhis will change with time. If we were to include, which we can't, the years and number of credits she had on a US soap Opera, Robin Wright would win hands down.

I would agree even though there is no clear cut evidence and we only have some clues. And I guess that Gerri would agree as well and that's why she was suggesting 1/2/3 for that particular case only. Every case is different and there is no default parsing.
