I believe the cover scans in the database are of a re-release. Can someone please check the copyright date - it is small and when magnified becomes too blurry but it looks like 2000 something.

My copy has a copyright date of 1999. Both front covers can be seen at: http://www.amazon.com/Deathsport-David-Carradine/dp/B00003L9B8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1261843033&sr=1-1

Thank you.

I don't know if this helps, but if you click on the pics in the link you provided, it says:

Quote:
Left pic belongs to the First Wave of Roger Corman Classics released in 1999 (under New Horizons label) with Leonard Maltin interview. Right pic is the 2nd Wave 2001 release (under New Concorde label), 'white cover' version, same UPC.

Is that what you are looking for, or is it something different?

Thank you - I never clicked on the site!

That means the cover scan in the database is a re-release and needs to be replaced.

Does anyone have the 1999 DVD and a scanner? I can copy and paste the amazon cover but I can't find the back cover.

No problem!

I don't have it, but -- and this is completely unrelated -- as I was looking for more info on it, I came across the German(?) poster:

Oh, man, to have that for my office.  That is gorgeous.

Often, those days, the posters were far more spectacular spectacular than the movie itself.

You aren't lying.

I love posters from the 70s, early 80s. Even the old grindhouse ones are artistic in their own way.

I have to agree, a lot of great movie artwork was made in the 70s and early 80s. I also like the exploitation artwork.

I would love to see a dvd release of

And I seem to have missed the Swiss release of

I've seen both movies in my younger years when the matinees still existed. We'd enter the theater at 14:30 and got out at 19:00. We'd had to wait about a year to get the major releases though

I love that one for Hi-Riders.

Stephen Romano is a stellar artist who specializes in creating original posters with the grindhouse flavor.

His book, Shock Festival, is pretty dang awesome.

I'd gladly do them, but I have the re-release coverart. Maybe replace the front coverart and leave the back coverart for now? I feel that's still better than two small front cover scans until someone can replace the back with the original coverart.

Kathy:

The Online covers appear to be a re-release, the date on the back is 2001. The ORIGINAL release was in 2000. It looks like they re-released it to bring the cover into line with other Corman titles such as Battle Beyond the Stars.

I found the Original released cover at DVDEmpire.

I decided to just contribute the data changes for now. The front cover scan I have is too small and of poor quality and I do not have a copy of the back cover. Hopefully someone with the 1999 DVD also has a scanner and they will contribute their scans. I'm usually the one who has the re-release covers - this was a first!

Thank you all for your help.

Edit: I had withdrawn my cover scans before reading Skip's post. I went to the site he posted and both the front and the back cover are both there! Thank you Skip!

Just be careful and check for watermarks Kathy. Most of DVD Empire's covers are watermarked. But hopefully you are lucky in this case.

Happy days...I don't see any watermarks. But if anyone does, please vote no and I will withdraw them.
