Hey there,

I'm trying to contribute two profiles for the Death Note anime. They are Part 1 and Part 2 of a TV Series Perfect Collection.

The barcodes are as follows: 4920080704545A and 4920080704545B

What's the best way to contribute these? They both have two discs each.

Thanks for any help!

Ok, thanks for your help! I"ll try doing that and leaving a note to say why the EANs don't match up. Thank you for your help

I've just tried to contribute this profile and when I do so, I receive an error stating: "DVD Profiler is unable to validate the UPC. Please verify the UPC and esure you have entered the entire code."

What should I do now?

It will not recognize the Alpha character. The parent profile should use the UPC sans Alpha character, abnd the child profiles should use the Disc ID. Again review the Rules for specifics and an explanation of what to include or not in the Parent. You will want to payb attention to the section relative to Boxsets and perhaps TV Shows.

What you have said there is what I have done. Even when I go to change the EAN, I get a message stating that : "The entered UPC does not appear to be valid. Please check the UPC before continuing. Continue? Yes/No." and then when I go to contribute, I get the error message below.

Could this simply be DVD Profiler not recognising the UPC provided? (4920080704545)

If that is the case, is there any other way I can contribute? I tried to set the Parent to the Disc ID but it says that Part 1 already has that ID and won't let me do it.

I'm a little bit stuck here.

Thank you for your help so far

Is it an asian release?
Quite often invalid UPCs get reported from there.

Since there are two discs in each box you are stuck.
-You could correct the UPC checksum (the "correct" checksum would a 3 so that the UPC would be 4920080704543. But this wouldn't help because in this case the UPC of the profile wouldn't match the UPC of the package)

- You could submit the parent profile by Disc-ID of the first Disc. But in this case you could not submit childprofiles for the parent, because one of the Disc-IDs is blocked alredy.

The only way out, that I can see is to submit by Disc-ID of the first (main) disc and do the rest of the profile with dividers for the discs in the mainprofile. Childprofiles would not be possible, but at least this way you could enter all the data.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Are you sure this is legal DVD set? I've never heard of a Death Note Perfect Collection and I found only Boxes that look like bootlegs.
Some more Infos could help: Region , Distributor,...

Hmmmmm, based on what i am finding or not I am beginning the wonder the same as Morglum. I can find an official US release for Death Note with a SIMILAR UPC but not the same, this would be a typical approach of a pirate, the Alpha UPC is add as well.

I'm quite confident that this is a legit release. It is a Japanese release and has many Japanese characters on the back (I recognise a few hiragana so it's definitely not Chinese) as well as some things such as the overview in English, as well.

The DVDs are NTSC region ALL, and as the majority of the text is in japanese, i can't tell who the distributor is.

This like here appears to have the same DVD as the first of the two that I Own. There are a few websites with this DVD on there.

Any ideas?

Thank you

Jess:

I can find a number of sites that list Death Note, unfortunately i can't find many that also include the UPC # or an image of the back cover. DVDEmpire, of course does include the UPC # in their descriptions as well as back cover images and there was one other site that while they did not use the UPC they did include a back cover image and again in this instance the UPC was similar but different somehow.

At the moment i am left scratching my head.

Can you upload a backcover scan? This could really help.
Region All for an japanese release seems unlikely. What it the episode count per disc?

I'm really sure this is not a legit release. 2 Discs for 19 Episodes, region free, wrong upc  and only 14,99$. This screams bootleg
