A rumor thread at Home Theater Forum indicates the sale will run mid- to end- of July this year instead of June.

I would say the end of July is most likely. They have a number of sales right now that expire at the end of this month and some into mid-July. I would expect all DVD sales promotions to end before the 20%/25% sale begins...as has been the case in the past.

Deep Discount is closing their retail Chicago store, so that may be why the sale is running late this time.

Oh noes... Been waiting for this sale as well. Hope I don't budge in the urges and order before the sale.

Must. Resist.

Word on the street (and this is just a rumor) is that at Deep Discount, they might not have the 20% sale this year but might instead go with a lower sale, like 15% or 10%.

The reason being that they have a harder time now due to the slumping economy.

I don't know if it's true though ... but it might explain why they're late this year. Been keeping an eye on it myself but in the mean time I bought a lot in the Hi-Def sale of Amazon (Die hard collection, Firefly, etc), so I might not buy much at Deep Discount this year ...

They are usually more expensive that Amazon to begin with so a 10% would merely bring them to approx. that level. 15% I'd consider...

Not complaining, I understand the reasoning, just pointing out.

i doubt the sale will go below 20%... they typically do very well during these sales and need to continue to keep their customer base for when the economy rebounds.

I can't see it dipping below 20% either.  In fact, November's sale was 25% because of the economy.  I wouldn't be surprised to see it again.

A colleague of mine just brought in the flyer for this event (at least, it should be this event) that came with a recent purchase.

The dates are July 17 thru Aug 2 for 25% off.  The code is "hotstuff" and will work on currently available DVDs, Blu-Rays, storage units and "fun stuff".

Since Jan. 2000 I have bought over 1200 titles from them at 44% below SRP,mostly on thier sales.
I can only remember but one thing I had a problem with, but I can't remember what, but it was resolved.
Thier shipping is slower ( 7 to 10 days) than Amazon, but Amazon has facility here in Phoenix, so I usually get two day shipment from Amazon.

The sale will officially begin on July 17th and last until August 2nd. It will be 25% off again and includes DVD and Blu-ray, and also Storage Units and "Fun Stuff". That comes directly from Deep Discount's promotional flyer that they've included with recent orders.

I've ordered from them for years and never had a problem. Sometimes their free shipping can be slow as hell, but otherwise no real problems at all.

I have never had problems with DD either. There was a few shipments that got lost on their way to Taiwan but they always send out replacement shipment. Also, one heavily scratched disc (floater...) was replaced quickly.

However, make sure about the contents of your order at the time when you order, as I have never been able to change an order afterwards (which, e.g. , made me end up with an unwanted copy of Let The Right One In; not that I don't want that movie, but I didn't want the one with the bad subtitles).

Looking forward to the sale now. Being signed up for the newsletter I usually get an e-mail reminding me of the sale, incl. a code; unfortunately the mail often arrives few days after the sale started (but before it ends).
