TCM has been running a longer print recently on TV  in which I recorded on my PVR.,.
Using a stop watch  it ran an astonishing 202 minutes.. !!  (The birthday party was all there in tact.)
The 'colors' , and widescreen vistas were very pleasant and not any where as bad as some of the pictures on that website indicate..  The stereo sound was nice but 5.1 and the missing anamorphic widescreen would be a welcome relief..

I always felt that John Wayne was so disappointed in Hollywood, after his failed Oscar attempt for 'his' personal movie, that he turned his back on Hollywood and never gave as much as he used to after this film..
In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

Great news!

My dad took me to see "The Alamo" on my 14th birthday. It made a really big impression on me. Little did I know that a quarter of a century later I would work for a San Antonio based company, and that I would have the opportunity to visit the real Alamo.

Anyway, "The Alamo" has always been one of my favorite movies. I hope I get to retire my LD and instead be able to watch it on BD in the quality that it deserves. I can hardly wait...

As a side note, Mr. Harris apparently plans to take what he has learned from The Alamo and apply it to IAMMMMW...woohoo.

He actually has already been working on it since the late '90s. Here is a interview from Home Theatre Forum.

Ah. I'm sure the extended cut will include information about how the Texans were fighting to preserve the institution of slavery....

Honestly, was this really necessary?  Not only is it off topic, and very close to violating the 'no political discussion' rule, it is needlessly inflammatory .
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Touchy, touchy, touchy. One of the things I think we Americans should be proud of is our readiness to admit the patchy spots in our history. An established fact about something that occurred over a century ago shouldn't be considered politically controversial.
