Just upgraded to 3.5 when this cropped up.  The color bar goes about 1/4 way across the splash screen and then the program stops responding.  I completely uninstalled the program including manually removing register entries, reinstalled with the same result.  As I read that plugins could be part of the issue, I installed without plugins.  The program starts in Safe Mode with no problems and in normal mode only if I hold the Alt key (Windows XP Pro).  My firewall (McAfee) gives full access for DVD Profiler.  Any ideas would be appreciated as I have run out.  Thanks.

Did you try to start with an empty database? Try database repair - maybe it helps!

kahless,

Tried your suggestions with no luck.  Used an empty database, refreshed my default database and used the database repair utility......no go.  Thanks for the ideas.

This usually indicates a problem with a third-party plugin, If you have any plugins installed, uninstall them and try again.

Try creating a new database and restoring a backup to it. I would suggest a few profiles at a time in case it is a single profile that is corrupted causing your problem. This approach should make it easier to identify a problem profile if that is the cause.

Giga Wizard,

    Went offline, shut down all McAfee programs/processes.  Same result.  If I start the computer in Safe Mode, it will start with no problems.  I don't see any unfamiliar processes in the list.

See file debuglog.txt in your Application Data folder ("%appdata%\dvd profiler"). It tells what DVD Profiler does when it starts and quits.

Just a wild guess:

try to start the program with the parameter skipversioncheck

Start -> Run -> "%programfiles%\DVD Profiler\dvdpro.exe" /skipversioncheck -> OK

DJ Doena,

    Thanks, but no luck.  It's crashing at "Initializing plugins" but I don't have any plugins.

Giga Wizard,

    When I installed the program, I left the plugin box unchecked.  When I start the program and go to "View Plugins" there are no plugins to view.  That's the part that is making no sense.  The program seems to be having a problem with something (plugins) that don't exist.  Thanks again for helping.  I've tried everything posted here and so far no luck.

Could you try to reinstall the program an DO install the plugins?
